Teach with a plan.
Guided lessons help you introduce each skill, listen to reading and check your child's first attempt.
Follow the printing guide. Print the term workbook once, or prepare just the next lesson's pages. Keep stationery and a folder for dated work ready.
How much time should we allow?
Use three suggested teaching days each week. Pre-Primary starts with 15–25-minute sessions. Grade 1–3 guides suggest 10–15-minute sittings for younger learners, with breaks and longer sessions as readiness allows.
A teaching day may include more than one sitting. Allow separate time for printing and preparation. Repeat activities when your child needs more practice.

Pre-PrimaryAlphabet through play across three terms
For children beginning to explore the alphabet. Take the full 36-week level to practise letters, sounds, rhymes and early handwriting through play. Choose this route for more time on early foundations.
Grade 1 · Pathway BIntroduces the alphabet in weeks 1–8, then words
For children who need alphabet sounds before word reading. The course introduces the alphabet in weeks 1–8, then moves into short-vowel words. Consider this route when your child is ready for a faster move towards reading, with your help.
Grade 1 · Pathway AReady to begin blending
For children who recognise most common letter sounds and are ready to blend. Develop word reading, spelling and sight words, then move into short stories and writing sentences.
Grade 2Blending simple words
For children who know letter sounds and can blend simple words. Develop vowel patterns, spelling, fluent reading and comprehension. Build clear sentences into stories, recounts and descriptions.
Grade 3Reading short texts
For children who can read short texts and write their own sentences. Explore longer words, spelling patterns and inference. Plan, write and improve stories and practical texts, with print and cursive practice.
Grade 1 pathways are alternatives. Choose A or B according to your child's starting point, not both together.
